Internal Mechanic

Buildex Interiors is looking for a skilled and reliable Internal Mechanic to maintain and service our company fleet, consisting of four lorries and one Probox. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring our vehicles remain safe, roadworthy, reliable and ready for daily deliveries and business operations.
The role requires someone who is hands-on, responsible and able to identify and address mechanical issues early to minimise vehicle breakdowns and downtime.
DAILY DUTIES
- Inspect all company vehicles before daily operations.
- Carry out routine servicing and preventive maintenance.
- Check engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, tyres and battery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
- Ensure basic tools, spare parts and emergency equipment are available.
- Keep the workshop/mechanical area clean and organised.
- Report any vehicle abuse, accident damage or mechanical negligence.
- Support the Fleet/Transport Officer in maintaining the vehicle schedule.
- Coordinate major repairs with approved external garages when necessary.
- Inspect vehicles after repairs before releasing them for use.
- Advise management on vehicle condition and repair requirements.
- Monitor fuel-related mechanical issues and unusual vehicle performance.
